CAIRO - As Muslims worldwide are charging batteries to welcome the holy month of Ramadan, OnIslam.net is championing a special campaign to cater to the spiritual, social and health needs of Muslims during the dawn-to-dusk month.
Our coverage for Ramadan has become a convention for us since day 1 of OnIslam's inception, providing our audience all over the world with all they need to know about Ramadan, making the holy month a special occasion for them, says Kamal Badr, Editor-in-chief of OnIslam.net.
And this is also in line with the roles of the website to be a reference on all what relates to Islam and Muslims.
As Ramadan is expected to start next week, OnIslam.net is launching a campaign to help Muslims seize on the holy month to get closer to Allah.
Themed "With OnIslam⦠Get Ready for Ramadan", the campaign features fatwas about the fasting month and how to make the best of Ramadan.
Daily news about Muslims worldwide during Ramadan and counseling services are also incorporated in the campaign.
Preparing kids for Ramadan, health tips for fasting as well as new recipes for iftar for Muslim families are also at hand.
We have many things in store for you this Ramadan, ranging from daily news, features about Ramadan from around the world, fatwas and counseling services, different tools of interactivity; all this to cater to the audience needs and quests for information about the holy month of fasting, Badr says.
Our campaign this year is highly important as it comes at a very significant moment for the website, few months after regaining its full capacity and gradually reviving its functional resources.
So we aim with this campaign to pass information across to a wide range of audience about the website and about the holy month of Ramadan, making use of the social media and other effective promotion tools.
OnIslam.net is an independent website that aims at becoming a reference on Islam and Muslims-related issues for Muslims, new Muslims as well as interested non-Muslims.
It seeks to review and renew contemporary Islamic discourses and help reach common grounds among people of different faiths and cultures.
A main pillar of the campaign is a special page on guiding Muslims to spirituality during the holy fasting month.
We produce a special page for Ramadan every year, says Dr. Wael Shihab, Managing Editor of OnIslam Shari`ah section.
This year, we will produce a well-designed page, with interesting and vital services such as zakah calculator, prayer times, tarawih recordings from different masjids, and daily quotes form Qur'an and Hadith, so as to help readers lift up their hearts and learn more about Ramadan and fasting.
Our theme for Ramadan 1433 page is With Hardship Comes Ease'. The new page's theme aims at implanting hope in the hearts of people in spite of difficulties and challenges they face, adds Shihab.
Muslims dedicate their time during the holy month to be closer to Allah through prayers, self-restraint and good deeds.
It is customary for Muslims to spend part of the days during Ramadan studying the Noble Qur'an.
Many men perform i`tikaf (spiritual retreat), spending the last 10 days of the month exclusively in the mosque.
Ramadan is a golden opportunity for us to spread awareness about Islam and its values, says Shihab.
Every year, the website witnesses a peak in readership rates in the blessed month of Ramadan as thousands of Muslims, from different parts of the world, send us their questions about Ramadan, fasting, zakatul-fitr, etc. We, therefore, are careful to spare no efforts to provide fatwa services, including live sessions, to meet the increasing need of Muslims for counseling in Ramadan.
The campaign is expected to double the number of visits to the website during the dawn-to-dusk fasting month.
OnIslam with its variety of Islamic content would like to serve audience with their needs on Ramadan. Anas Al-Shami, the head of the marketing unit, says.
We aim with this campaign to double our current pool of audience and get their loyalty and cobtibous visits as they will be sure that their needs are found at OnIslam.
