Is wearing very beautiful clothes a sin? Can a Muslim wear beautiful clothes and look nice and at the same time be religious?
Answered by the Fatwa Department Research Committee - chaired by Sheikh `Abd al-Wahhâb al-Turayrî It is permissible for a Muslim to wear beautiful clothes. It is encouraged for a Muslim to look presentable and nice.
Allah says: “O children of Adam, We have bestowed raiment upon you to cover your shame as well as to adorn you, but the raiment of righteousness, that is the best.”
Allah says: “O children of Adam, wear your beautiful apparel when you go to the mosque.”
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "No one who has an atom's weight of pride in his heart will enter the Garden."
A man asked: "And if the man likes his clothes to be good and his sandals to be good?"
The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: "Allah is beautiful and loves beauty. Pride means to renounce the truth and to abase people." [Sahîh Muslim] Source: Islam Today
