I purchased something online. I paid for the product and the shipping was free for me. I later discovered that the company uses an outside insurance company to insure its shipments. In consideration of the ruling that insurance is unlawful in Islam, is there any sin on me if I keep the item or shop with the company in the future?
the Fatwa Department Research Committee - chaired by Sheikh `Abd al-Wahhâb al-Turayrî
Whatever insurance they take out for the goods that they ship is a business transaction between that company and an insurance firm. It has absolutely nothing to do with you unless you specifically requested that insurance and paid for it.
Therefore, you may keep the product that you purchase and you may purchase other products from that company in the future. The important thing is that the business that you do with the company is lawful.
And Allah knows best.
