The television and the DVD player are two of several media-related products. For all of these, we do not give a ruling for the instrument itself, since it is a means that can be used for both good and evil. A good example of this type of product is a kitchen knife which can be lawfully used for numerous purposes though it can be used for the unlawful purpose of killing someone.

Therefore, the object itself should not be treated as unlawful. You may manufacture these items, design them, purchase them, and sell them.
