Praise be to Allaah.
There is nothing wrong with bleaching the hair that grows on the upper lip, or removing it.
The scholars of the Standing Committee for Issuing Fatwas were asked: What is namas (plucking eyebrow hair)? Is it permissible for a woman to remove hair from the chin and upper lip, and hair from the legs and arms, if the hair is noticeable and is off-putting to the husband, what is the ruling?
They replied: Namas means removing hair from the eyebrows, which is not permissible, because the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed the woman who plucks eyebrow hair and the woman who has that done. But it is permissible for a woman to remove hair that may grow on the chin or upper lip or on her legs and arms. End quote.
Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daaâimah (5/195).
It is essential that whatever is used to dye the hair does not contain anything harmful, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: âThere should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm. Narrated by Ahmad and Ibn Majaah (2341) and classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Ibn Majaah.
The day begins at dawn, and the night comes before it. Hence if it is said Laylat al-Jumuâah (lit. the night of Friday), what is meant is the time from Maghrib (sunset) on Thursday until dawn on Friday.
It is permissible for a woman who is not married to raise girls, and she will have the reward for teaching them and raising them with faith and good morals. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: âThe one who calls to good guidance will have a reward like that of those who follow him, without it detracting from their reward in the slightest. Narrated by Muslim (4831).
And he said: âI and the one who sponsors an orphan will be in Paradise like thisâ and he gestured with his forefinger and middle finger, holding them slightly apart. Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5304) and Muslim (2983).
We ask Allaah to guide us and you.
And Allaah knows best.
