The bank has been steadily growing its new business wing, having already opened three of its branches so far, and this latest announcement marks the launch of the bank's world-class Islamic banking services in Muscat, a press release said.
On this occasion, Dr Mohamed Abdulaziz Kalmoor, CEO of Bank Sohar , said, "The inauguration of this new Sohar Islamic branch in Muscat marks a significant milestone for Bank Sohar . Not only does it expand Sohar Islamic's physical presence into the Muscat region, it also marks the opening of our fourth branch in quick succession. In order to further extend the reach of our services, we look forward to opening many more branches in other regions of Oman in the near future."
The new branch, located in Ghubra, opened its doors to customers on November 7, in the presence of Mohammad Haris, AGM, head Islamic banking, and Fahad al Zedjali, the branch manager, who were present to welcome new customers and well-wishers.
The branch will initially operate in a 'soft mode' until its official opening, which is expected to take place soon. In commemoration of the soft launch, the bank even presented a special gift to the first customer who opened an account at the branch.
Commenting on the services offered by Bank Sohar 's Islamic window, Haris said, "As with our other branches, this latest branch will offer its diverse clientele a comprehensive
range of personal and business banking solutions that adhere to the highest level of Sharia compliance.
With the soft launch of the Muscat branch, Bank Sohar has four Sohar Islamic branches - the other three located in Falaj al Qabail, Firq and Saada.
