One of the most usual tools in the arsenal of bigots and racists everywhere is attacking a whole group of people for the actions of one, or a few misguided individuals. Douglas Murray takes this to a whole other extreme by using stories and actions that have been repeatedly been proven false, like the claims of Muslim professionals (like doctors, for example) refusing to do business with women they deem improperly dressed.

Even though there is no proof or evidence for this, Douglas Murray mentions them constantly when attacking Islam and its place in the United Kingdom. There is no doubt that he knows the questioned veracity of these stories. The fact that he still uses them to stoke the fires is a mark of his lack of scruples and shows that he is willing to lie to maintain his fame and his money, even if it results in the very real violence against Muslims that has been lived in the United Kingdom.

These stories are also often extremely exaggerated accounts of normal, everyday situations, like Muslims paying for private time at swimming pools, or even things that are completely fabricated by hims, such as Muslims being offended at the idea of piggy-banks in banks. These kinds of stories that he frequently uses portray Muslims in a way that is very far from reality and what is really happening.

A frequent defense of this dubious reporting is that it is common for fake stories to appear in the media. One should remember however that if these kinds of statements were printed about individuals, long ago there would have been numerous libel suits. Writing false or exaggerated stories about the whole Muslim community however brings no real consequences to the media and gives them the money of the numerous xenophobes willing to pay to be pandered to.

The real trouble lies in that violence is often the result of these kinds of attacks. Nazis and Hitler are continually brought up as an example but it's not necessary to look that far away and so far back. There have been much more recent acts of violence against Muslims in the United Kingdom.

Muslim buildings are constantly being defaced and an attack in recent years blinded a well known imam. A society that deems acceptable the attack of so many of its members by people like Douglas Murray is only preparing the situation for violence and tragedy in the future.

There is no doubt that Douglas Murray knows the consequences of his lies and exaggeration but he has made the vile decision that the possible future violence against millions of people in the United Kingdom is well worth his present money and fame.
