CAIRO – Inviting their colleagues to know more about Islam monotheism, Imperial College Islamic Society has opened the annual “Discover Islam Week” to clear misconceptions about Islam and give skeptics true answers about the growing faith.
“Discover Islam Week is here to answer those questions for you! Brace yourself for a week of exchanging thoughts, new experiences and enlightenment,” Imperial College Islamic Society said on its website.
“This year the Week will be held between 24th and 28th February, and will feature a variety of different talks, exhibitions and even a dinner!
“Everyone is invited to all of our events, so come down and bring all your friends/ colleagues!”
The week-long events included a lecture titled, “Pursuit of Happiness” that was held last Tuesday, February 25.
Another lecture is planned on Thursday that will be presented by guest speaker Yusuf Chambers under the title “Is Life Just a Game?”
Today’s lecture aims at answering questions that bothered man since the beginning of existence about the purpose of life from an Islamic point of view.
On Friday, the society hosts a Q&A dinner on Islam with Sheikh Shams Adduha and Idris Tawfiq.
Britain is home to a sizable Muslim minority of nearly 2.7 million.
The majority of the multi-ethnic minority has Indian, Bengali and Pakistani backgrounds.
The 2011 census showed that the proportion of Muslims rose from 3.0 percent to 4.8 percent, becoming the fastest growing faith in Britain.
