Makkah: The largest religious gathering in the world took place when millions of Muslims across the globe performed the Hajj in the holy city of Makkah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and attended the Hajj sermon of the Grand Mufti of Islam, Al-Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh.
The Grand Mufti, Al-Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh, delivered the yearly Hajj sermon on Thursday and called upon the Muslims to follow teachings of Islam to promote peace and brotherhood.
In his Hajj Sermon at Masjid-e-Nimra in Maidan-e-Arafat‚ he said that Islam teaches patience and tolerance and abhors all types of violence in the society.
He said, “It is the prime responsibility of the Muslims not to harm anyone on the basis of caste‚ creed and religion.”
Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh said that Islam is the only religion which has to stay and every Muslim should work to preach its teachings.
He stated, “We can implement Islam by following the Sunnah of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).”
He urged the Muslims to ensure their children become good Muslims and play their due role in establishing a peaceful society. He also asked the rulers to work for resolution of the problems being faced by the people.
The Grand Mufti said, “Muslim countries will have to work for improving their economies to overcome socio-economic and political problems.”
He also urged the Muslims to bring their wealth back in Muslim community.
“Muslims will have to solve their problems through their own means,” he added.
During the sermon, Grand Mufti urged the Muslims to set aside their differences, adding that there is no link between terrorism and Islam. The Mufti also declared suicide impermissible (haram) in Islam.
He said that there is no place for violence and aggression in Islam. He termed all discussions against Shariah as propaganda, adding that few elements are talking against Islam in the name of freedom of expression.
The Grand Mufti said, “Islam is being maligned in the name of freedom of speech and democracy highlighting that blasphemy will not be tolerated.”
He suggested that the Muslims can overcome all difficulties with their solidarity and be adhering to Islamic teachings.
“The Muslims should use their wealth for promotion of knowledge; If they want progress they have to move towards technology,” he said.
The Grand Mufti further said that the Islamic system of governance is better than a fake democracy. Political problems can be solved through dialogue, he said.
More than three million Muslims from all over the world had gathered at Midan-e- Arafat to perform their key ritual of Hajj.
