If a woman’s breasts are of an unnaturally small and abnormal size, as can be the case due to a hormone imbalance, then she may undergo cosmetic surgery to enlarge their size provided that such an operation does not pose any danger to her health. This must be checked with reputable medical specialists before she makes a decision.
Such an operation is only permitted if it is carried out as a medical treatment to remedy a medical condition and bring the breasts to a normal size.
Breast enlargement should not be undertaken for mere beauty enhancement and for changing Allah’s creation to suit some preconceived notion of beauty.
In that case, it will certainly not be permitted. Allah says: “Allah cursed him and he (Satan) said: ‘I will take from your servant a portion determined. I will mislead them and create within them false desires. I will order them to slit the ears of cattle and to change Allah’s creation.’ Whoever takes Satan as a friend instead of Allah has surely suffered a great loss.” [Sûrah al-Nisâ’: 118-119]
Those who engage in cosmetic surgery for such purposes also fall under the curse in the hadîth narrated by Ibn Mas`ûd where he relates that he heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) curse the women who pluck their eyebrows and those who place gaps between their teeth in pursuit of beauty – those who would alter Allah’s creation. [Sahîh al-Bukhârî and Sahîh Muslim]
And Allah knows best.
