There is nothing wrong with you giving this item away as a gift to someone else. You are under no legal obligation to utilize for yourself the property that you acquire as a gift.
Upon receipt of a gift, it becomes your property and it has the same legal status as any other property that you possess. Consequently, you are fully within your rights to use it for yourself, give it to someone else as a gift, sell it, or give it away in charity.
