Sheikh Salman al-Oadah
Sayyid Qutb was an Islamic intellectual. He was a great Imam and reformer. He had subjected his pen and his mind to the service of Islam. His books showed deep affection towards Islam. He was extremely concerned about religion. We can feel his deep grief and his interest in Islam. He was more interested in his religion than looking after his own affairs.
He wrote a famous commentary of the Qur’an entittled Fi Zilâl al-Qur’ân. It is not a typical commentary, since he related the verses of the Qur’ân to the contemporary life of the people. The reader of this book really feels in a most profound way that the Qur’ân was not sent for a certain time or place but for the guidance of all mankind wherever and whenever they exist. It is true that Sayyid Qutub made some mistakes in this book, but these are few in comparison to what it contains of benefit and valuable knowledge.
