I do not know the rituals of Hajj and I want to do Hajj. What should I do?

If one is thinking of going on holiday, and the thought of doing Umrah comes up, then if they decide not to go to Umrah, but instead to go on a holiday elsewhere, is there anything wrong in this. I have always been told that you only go to Umrah and Hajj if there is a calling and it is your time to go. Just by discussing the possibility and then not going does not mean your time is here?

Is it permissible to do âUmrah during the months of Hajj, on the basis that I will not do Hajj in the same year? For example, if I go to Makkah about half a month before Hajj, and I do the rituals of âUmrah, then I leave â is that permissible?

I want to perform the obligatory Hajj this year, and we do a jamaâiyyah to raise the funds for Hajj. (What I mean by jamaâiyyah is that a group of people each put in the same amount of money, and every month, one of the members of this group takes the money.) Is this regarded as a debt? Will my Hajj be valid?

I performed the obligatory Hajj last year, praise be to Allah. My mother has not done Hajj and she is over 65 years of age. Because of her health and the situation in Egypt, she is not able to do Hajj. My father died this year at the age of 80; he did Hajj twenty years ago. Is it better for me to do Hajj on behalf of my father, for whom I hope for speedy forgiveness from Allah, and I do not want to wait until next year, or should I do Hajj on behalf of my mother who has not done Hajj ...

During tawaaf when doing âUmrah I broke my wudooâ, and I did not know what to do, so I went out and did wudooâ, then I repeated tawaaf and did saaâi between al-Safa and al-Marwah. Is what I did correct? What should I have done?

Is âUmrah mustahabb during the last ten days of Ramadaan?

A man entered ihram for âumrah before the adhaan for Maghrib on the last day of Shaâbaan, and after Maghrib it was announced that Ramadan had begun. Will his âUmrah be counted for him as being in Ramadan or not? In other words, he formed the intention to enter ihraam before Maghrib, and he did âUmrah that night, i.e., the first night of Ramadan.

Published: Apr 1, 2010 22:40 Updated: Apr 1, 2010 22:40 Since the sa'ie between the two hills of Al-Safa and Al-Marwah commemorates Lady Hagar's search for water for her son and herself, why is it that men do the running between the two hills while women walk?
