One of the main women's issues in Islam is the veil. The dress code in general, be it the hijab, the burka, the veil, or simply dressing modestly and what it means. The requirement in the Qur'an for Muslims to dress modestly applies to both men and women. It doesn't only apply to garments, but also to many aspects of a Muslim's behavior. The interpretation of hijab varies greatly from country to country and community to community. In countries like Saudi Arabia women are expected to cover themse ...

I have just recently graduated from university in July. While at university, I became more aware of Islam and my role within it. I am looking for a job. I have come across conflicting views about women working and am really unsure whether I am allowed to work. I have been told it is better for me to learn sewing or design because this is a non-Muslim country and it is better for a woman not to work in an office. Some say it is unlawful for me to work in an office without wearing a face veil.

Please provide me with the Islamic ruling and strong evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah regarding a woman driving a car. Is it permissible? If so, why are women in Saudi Arabia not allowed to have drivers licenses?

I am recently divorced from my husband, and the court has given me full custody of my three minor daughters. However, I have been awarded custody of my small children under the condition that I reside in the same state in which my husband resides. The problem is this means that I will have to live alone, because my family lives in another state far away. None of them are prepared to move to live with me. What can I do?

If a woman does not get a white discharge, and instead she waits for the bleeding to stop, the number of days (of the period) may vary from one month to the next. Is she sinning if she makes a mistake about when she becomes pure, such as if she thinks that she became pure, then after doing ghusl and praying she finds traces of it or, conversely, if she waits and misses some prayers because she thinks that she has not yet become pure, because it is difficult for her to know when she becomes pure ...

After I got divorced I had a haraam relationship with another man, which led to zina. I ended this relationship and repented to Allah, then after that I got the opportunity to go for Hajj with my parents who did not know about my sin. But one week before I travelled for Hajj, I found out that I was pregnant and I gave myself an abortion two days before leaving England to perform Hajj. I sincerely regret everything that happened, and I bled for ten days after that but I did not pray during this p ...

I am a woman who had two weeks of nifaas. For seven days I did not see any blood, but I did not pray yet because I forgot that, even though I know that a woman should pray when she is pure (not menstruating or bleeding following childbirth). But I did not think of that. I said to myself: I will pray after forty days. Do I have to make up those seven days or not?
